Filing Documents Under Seal

The District Court has issued a superseding Administrative Order containing general rules for filing documents under seal. A copy of the order is available here.

 

Any document filed under seal must be accompanied by a separately filed unsealed version that redacts only truly confidential information allowed by a prior protective order or supported in a contemporaneous motion to seal.

Notice of Fee Increase

May 1, 2013

 

The Judicial Conference of the United States has approved a $50 administrative fee for new civil actions filed in the district court.  As a result the filing fee has increased from $350 to $400 effective May 1, 2013.

 

This fee does not apply to persons granted in forma pauperis status under 28 U.S.C. § 1915 or to petitions for writs of habeas corpus, for which the fee remains $5.

Admission to Practice in the Western District of Wisconsin

March 8, 2013

 

The District Court has discontinued over-the-phone credit card payments and payment by check of the fee for admission to practice in this district.  Instead, attorneys seeking admission will be asked to pay the fee electronically.  For more information, please refer to the attorney admissions page on this website.
