The court has received reports of fraudulent communications that appear to come from court employees, the U.S. Marshals Service, or other law enforcement organizations. Often, the caller threatens arrest, demands payment, or attempts to trick you into visiting a website or opening an attachment that contains malware.

The message may look like this:

Notice to Appear,

You are notified that you have been scheduled to appear for a hearing that will take place on [mm/dd/yyyy] at 9:00 a.m.  Please bring all documents and witnesses with you to court.

A copy of the court notice is attached.  Please read it thoroughly.

Note: If you do not attend the hearing, the judge may issue a warrant for your arrest and/or enter judgment against you.

If you receive an e-mail, a telephone call, a link to a website, or an attachment from someone claiming to be a court employee, and if you suspect that the communication is fraudulent, please contact the U.S. Marshals Service or the U.S. District Court immediately. This court will never ask for any form of payment or for your personal financial information to verify your identity.
