Admission to Practice
In order to be admitted to practice before the District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, it is necessary for the applicant to be a member in good standing of the Bar of any United States Court or the highest court of any state or the District of Columbia. A member in good standing of the Bar of the Western District of Wisconsin must move the applicant's admission.
The admission process can be completed by mail, or the applicant and movant may appear in person before a judicial officer in Madison.
To be admitted by mail, please submit a completed motion form and
a check made payable to the Clerk, U. S. District Court. Please
consult our fee schedule
for the current fee. The motion form should reflect that the applicant
has taken the required oath before a notary public.
If admission in person is desired, please call this office at (608)
264-5156 to verify that a judicial officer will be available at
the time the applicant and moving attorney plan to be present. The
motion form should be completed up to the oath, which will be administered
before the judicial officer. The appropriate fee is to be paid at
that time.
